Privacy policy

This policy describes the information used by Rookwick at playrookwick.com and its staging site.

Sign-in information

Auth0 handles sign-in. If you choose Google, the sign-in request includes basic identity, profile and email information. Rookwick uses the provider account identifier and display name to recognise your account and connect it to your private saved work. Rookwick does not keep a separate email-address or profile-photo field in its application database. It stores the provider identifier and display name received at sign-in. Auth0 and your chosen sign-in provider may hold that information as part of your account. Rookwick does not request Gmail, Drive, contacts or calendar access.

Saved game work

Rookwick stores an internal account identifier, saved notes, checked answers and evidence selections, check results, accepted answers, case and question progress, and associated timestamps. These records let you continue playing and see your private solve history. Saved work is retained for continued play; the application does not currently apply an automatic deletion period to these records.

Cookies and browser storage

Required security cookies support sign-in and your session. A sign-in transaction lasts up to ten minutes. A session lasts up to eight hours and may end sooner when its sign-in token expires. Expired sessions no longer grant access; expired database records are cleaned up during later sign-ins.

Your browser also stores answer drafts and reading preferences. These can remain after you sign out. Clearing Rookwick's site data in your browser removes local drafts and preferences, but does not delete saved server records.

Services used to run Rookwick

Cloudflare hosts the site and its application database. Auth0 provides authentication, Google provides Google sign-in when selected, and Resend delivers authentication emails through Auth0. These services process information needed for their roles and may maintain service, security or diagnostic records under their own policies. This policy does not set those providers' retention periods.

Your choices and requests

You can edit saved notes and clear draft answer choices in the game. Signing out ends the current Rookwick session; it does not delete your account, saved game work or browser drafts. There is currently no self-service account deletion or personal-data download feature.

For privacy questions or requests about access to or deletion of your information, contact eprice.name@gmail.com. Describe your request without sending passwords or sign-in codes. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you before acting on a request.
